Hi people! I don't have time to post pictures because I still have to reduce them all. These past weeks have been really busy.

March 20: We blindfolded Colleen and took her to Panera's for her birthday. That was fun.
March 22: I did field observation again because my Ed Tech class was canceled. We had a MuKappa dinner in the cafeteria and then I babysat. Aidan decided he couldn't sleep without his mom and his parents came home to get something and ended up staying instead.
March 23: I did more field observation and completed my 12 hours. We had our art show and that was fun. I slept over at Jessi's that night. Her sister Anna was visiting. (She slept over here Thurs-Fri.)
March 24: I was supposed to babysit, but that got canceled. I went to "Through Their Eyes" which was a seminar on teaching kids with learning disabilities. It was sooo much fun! I also really appreciated it because I had just been in the schools and I had Foundations of Special Ed. It's crazy how they're doing school now. Kids get juggled between classes for different "support" classes! Some might be in an inclusive classroom and go out for reading support or emotional support and stuff like that. It takes a lot of thought from the teachers so they can plan a class that has the least amount of kids leaving.
March 25: Went to church with Colleen. We went with the Sutherlands to the Majestic Oaks nursing home for their monthly ministry. Jon needs a haircut. He was playing the organ and the lady next to me said "She plays really well, doesn't she."
March 27: I found out at 10pm that I had the go signal to register online for classes. I'm supposed to register in 15 minutes. However, there was a glitch in the computer system. All the dual level people were allowed to register with the seniors! The computer even says that I'm a sophomore now, a junior in the summer, and a senior in the fall. Weird. Anyway I registered and emailed Mr Schlenker about it and he said he wouldn't drop my courses and consider myself fortunate that I could register early. Haha. Chris and Janita registered on Monday with all the seniors. I have 21 credits now but that's an overload and I'll probably drop one. I counted up credits -- God willing I'll be in between my junior and senior year during the fall semester. (I only need 6 credits after the summer to be a senior)

I have a lot of homework to do now. The health and PE section of Integrating Music, Art, Health/PE is so much work. Sniff. I liked the other two sections much more! Bye!

I learned how to draw a Celtic knot. It took 3 hrs, but hey!

My fingers are frozen!!! But I have new windshield wipers! I ran over to Sears only to discover that the sell windshield wipers in the auto part and they closed at 8pm and it was 8:03. Sooo... I decided to check Home Depot since it was right there and they said that Target, which was next door, sold them! Yay! So I went in and got one blade and realized at the checkout that it was just one blade and ran back for another.

I got back to school and found that they had put all the street lamps on (probably because of the music competiton) so I got the great idea to park under one and try to change the wipers. I couldn't figure it out and my fingers nearly froze off. So... I tried calling Uncle Chuck and then got the great idea to google "Changing windshield wipers on Mercury Sable." I found some sort of car forum where some guy complained about changing his wipers on his M.S. and I got the answer I needed! So I ran out again, froze my fingers off, but changed the blades. Yessss!

Anyhoo... I did more field observations today. Then I hung around with TCS people, playing the hand game and Zoom/Brake. Then I went to the awards ceremony and TCS was so sure they weren't winning anything that when they got called, they were in a daze. Haha.

So yeah... bye.

Hi people. Guess I should get around to updating this thing.

So the hoped-for snow day did not happen. I didn’t sleep well Sunday night because I was quite excited that there might be a snow day and I kept waking up because I wanted it to be 6:30 so I could check the school closing site. Hah, the most depressing moment in my college life is when you click that little emergency closing button and it says “All classes are being held as scheduled.” Do you realize how emotionally upsetting that is? Ok, that’s not the most depressing moment. The most depressing moment is when you check your semester grades and see a “D” and freak out because you can’t believe it’s true (and it wasn’t).

Anyway, classes are going just dandy. Oh I forgot to say, Saturday night I babysat 3 kids. Two of them were in bed and the oldest went to bed at 8:15. I got a lot of studying done. Yay. Anyway, Monday was the usual – class. I survived the night class too. Tuesday I had one class and since Foundations of Special Ed doesn’t meet anymore because of field observations, I babysat the 3 kids again. The oldest went to preschool and the other two napped. Sooo I got some more studying done. AND I bombed my Tuesday exam on Romans. So much for reading Romans 5 times. But at least I know now how to study for his exams. I HATE FIRST EXAMS!!! I never know what to expect and I usually study all the wrong things.

Anyway, Tuesday night we went to the new Chickfila because we got free sandwich coupons. I really wanted to work at the new one, but oh well. I think the Chickfila days are over.

Wednesday I had class and then went to visit Mrs. Fisher, aka “Millie.” She’s a sweet little lady. She showed me old pictures. Seriously, men and women back then looked so much more masculine and feminine! The girls were so pretty. She was the 13th of 14 kids and the kids were usually around 3 years apart.

Today we had class, Andy nearly threw my cellphone out the second story classroom window, I tutored Ruth, and went to dinner in the Eagle’s Nest. Two quotable quotes:

Spring break is coming up! I need to do stuff over break... like art projects and take pictures of eyes. Ahhh!!! And then we only have 7 weeks left! So much to do, so little time. I have to register for summer classes the week I come back, turn in all the RA application forms the week I get back, register for Fall classes in two weeks, meet with my advisor, tutor, babysit, visit Millie, work in the office, etc. Wheeeeeeeeee! I thrive on being busy.

OH YEAH!!! And I need to remember to get the commentaries on Psalms out of the library so I can do the thing about what the author’s literary approach is. That paragraph was really for my benefit.

Firefox reinstalled itself and deleted all my bookmarks and settings. Boooo. Also, if I unplug my computer from the back, it goes to battery. If I unplug it from the wall, it turns off. WEIRD!!!

I need to do art projects or something. BYE!

Hi people

Hi lovely peoples. It's snowing! Or it was. Colleen and I went to Providence today and went to the Firth's for lunch. That was nice. Then it started alternating between snow and rain and church was canceled. We were going to stay and plug into the Trinity service online, but it was getting bad so Mrs Firth sent us home. I don't know if they watched the service, but Colleen and I did. It would be cool if we had a snow day tomorrow. :) Actually, it wouldn't. My exams are getting pushed all around and it's annoying.

I'm really tired so I'm going now. Bye

To be or not to be a dispensationalist... Just kidding! Did that make you sit up? I started researching covenant theology vs. dispensationalism on the internet. Progressive dispensationalism seems to be what most PBU professors hold to (except Master).

There you go -- the Messianic Star of David. How PBU appropriate. Steph has one that she got in Israel. I actually think it's quite pretty. I am not questioning covenant theology. I'm just trying to make covenant theology my own and what I believe in because I believe it not because my church and family believes it.

So Tuesday was open dorm. We had wing wars. Our wing was all black. It was anti-Valentine's Day. People were able to write all over the walls, including one wall for "Worst Dates" stories. They were quite funny, especially when the guys started writing. "I went to pick up my girlfriend and her dad got in the car and went with us. I had to pay for him too." Hahaha! All the guys that came down said they loved it and would vote for us, but being typical guys, they forgot to cast their ballot. (At least that's our explanation as to why we lost) The pink wing won. There must be favoritism -- it was Christy's wing and her wing won last year. She probably forced people to vote for her wing, knowing Christy. =)

Wednesday we had a snow day!!! It was great! I was so excited that I woke Jessi up to tell her she didn't have to get up (this was at 7:15am) and we were too excited to go back to sleep. Sooo we went to breakfast at 8 and only the custodial and campus services people were there. Haha. Then some of the MK guys came. We were at breakfast for about an hour because I got the great idea to play the grand piano in the ADR (part of the cafeteria separated by dividers). Jessi and I woke up Elena and Colleen and got them to watch "Swan Princess" with us. Then we did homework... or at least attempted to do homework. I only really got going at 8pm. I went to dinner and was there for about 1 and a half to 2 hours... socializing.

Thursday, we hoped for a delay but alas, we had class. Mr Allen got a phonecall in the middle of class and he had forgotten he had to testify in some court hearing. So he came back in the room and said, "Wow I feel sorry for you guys. You're on an emotional rollercoaster -- maybe no class, we still have class, maybe no class?" We got out 15 mins early, though. I took Cyprus to Trenton for her permit (I got lost, but I found my way again!) that afternoon.

Thursday night we had a "Well" event. "The Well" was started by Dean Hernandez several years ago because she wanted there to be something for the girls on campus. The last "Well" meeting was a "Well forum" when Dr Vasso spoke on true beauty (what else!). Anyway, this was instead of her Valentine's Day Princess breakfast. We watched this awful movie called "One Night with the King." I don't recommend it. It's the story of Esther, Hollywood-ed. The parts that were purely from Scripture were fine, but it was totally Hollywood-ed and dramatized. It was an interesting experience though. The creepiest part was that it was so LOTR-ish and Mordecai was Gimli and Memucan was Faramir's father. Also, Haman looked like Mr Field with long hair. ANYWAY, there were indeed some really good parts and there were some pathetic parts! Want the details? Just ask. The one quote I did like was "David did not triumph because he fought well; he triumphed because he believed well." The other thing that I actually did appreciate was that it helped me understand the context of the exile which was helpful as I have my Isaiah exam on Monday. We girls got to take home a rose afterwards. One girl said she could start a lot of rumors by walking into Heritage Hall with a rose. PBU is weird that way.

Friday I went to work and James and I finished inventory! YESSS!!! I counted single sheets of paper for 2 hours. (I counted 2,000+ papers) The only fun part was that James brought the CD player into Sugar Bear (the supply closet) and played Celtic folk music. Then I had Prophetics and was very upset that Mr Toews didn't move the exam to Wednesday. Heh oh well. I didn't have Emergent Lit cuz it was Friday and we don't have class Friday (yessss!!!) so I ate with the guys after Prophetics class. Then I had art class and the art teacher is quite an .... interesting character. (Speaking of art, as I left the lunch table, I said "I have to go to art class... drawing-drawing." It was really unintentional and it slipped out before I could stop it. Benaiah was the only one that caught it and of course he understood it, but it probably sounded dumb to everyone else, if they heard it.) So anyway -- art looks like it's going to be fun, crazy, and interesting. We have to do a photo essay and I think I'll do cafeteria food... or maybe different Bibles. Other people did hands, colors, feet, etc. Twenty-seven pictures of cafeteria food... wow! Or maybe I should do signs at PBU. (Including all the ancient ones in Sugar Bear) Nah. Food should be interesting. Wish it was spring so I could do flowers. I'm not allowed to use my old pictures.

I studied a good deal today and made brownies (recipe from Mrs Benjamin -- she was the music teacher for the music section of Integrating Music, Art, Health/PE.)

I have pics but I think I'll make a slideshow of them... sometime. Not now though. Bye!

I was just reading Jeremiah (obviously). As I typed out those verses I just realized how Yahweh and hesed are right next to each other. Covenant-keeping God + lovingkindness! This is our God!
Also, as I typed that out I realized something. I went to Bible Fellowship Church this morning and was comparing it to what I'm used to and there is a tendency to in some ways to be prideful I guess? However, what have I that I did not receive? I ought to boast in the LORD, Yahweh, who blessed me by putting me in the church setting that I grew up in.

Another thing that is really neat is Psalm 50. It is a judgment psalm, but there is grace sandwiching the judgment section in the psalm! The opening verse has El, Elohim, and Yahweh are right next to each other and then the ending verses salvation is offered. Judgment and grace together. One commentator called said "The Judge becomes Savior."

ANYWAY...

So it's Sunday afternoon and I'm waiting to go to Warminster. Colleen and Jennifer (aka Cyprus) are coming with me. =D!!! Colleen and I were in the lounge talking for a long time last night and she comes from a pretty similar background as me (church and home life alike). She's used to an evening service, 45min-1hr preaching, etc. So I asked her if she wanted to come with me tonight and she said yes. Then I emailed Cyprus and asked her and she was thrilled. Her mom met Mrs Firth and Mrs Firth talked to me because she wanted me to meet her, but I had already met her! So Mrs Firth will be excited to meet Cyprus tonight. Apparently Cyprus has been disappointed at the spiritual fervor here on campus... so anyway! I'm excited they're coming.

I went to Bible Fellowship this morning because I had to attend an AWANA Sparks meeting and a KidSafe meeting. The KidSafe was mandatory for legal purposes since the AWANA ministry involves people outside of church. According to insurance, we all have to be KidSafe certified. Apparently there are many instances of child abuse within church ministries. How sad. There are so many cases because churches just trust a lot and don't do thorough background checks on their volunteers. Now we're thoroughly checked -- from criminal records to fingerprints to sexual abuse department or whatever it's called, etc. One out of 3 girls and one out of 4 boys will be abused by age 18. Sooo we had to go through everything and be aware of things we can and cannot do, etc.

Yesterday, Danae came over and hung out with Colleen and me. We got pizza (yay for Dominoe's PBU discount). She joined MuKappa Friday night as well. She made up a long story about how her parents are Korean but they adopted her and now they're missionaries to Kansas. Haha! It was a lot of fun. I borrowed a bunch of games from Chris, but we pretty much played Catchphrase the entire time (no surprise there). Catchphrase is really the MuKappa game! Benaiah and Philippe turned it into mime. It was hysterical! I have some amazing video clips. Danae mentioned how some of the people there were so different than she thought they were. It's because we MK's have a special bond and our true personality comes out when we're around each other. HAHA! There were some other people in the Eagle's Nest and we asked them to play Catchphrase with us and they looked really nervous and said "But we're not MK's!!!" That's funny cuz we had 3 non-MK's there who had "special connections." Another girl (Brittany) and we fed her and she said "Wow, you MK's know how to treat a person good." Funnyyyy.

Danae asked me if the Philippines was in Asia. I didn't think she was serious so I laughed at her... but she was serious. Oops. ;P

Back to Bible Fellowship. Mr Allen preached. It's weird... I felt like I was in class. But when I'm in class, I feel like I'm in church. However his sermon was something like a half hour long. His class is an hour and 15 mins. He preached on Hebrews 2:5ff and how Christ is better. Jon Kontz led worship because the regular worship leader was gone. I felt like I was in chapel. We didn't sing "Heart of Worship" today. Amazing, huh? We sang praise songs that I knew (actually I know a lot...) and actually do like because there's more to them than some song we sang in chapel the other week that seriously had 6 words to it and we repeated it like 10 times. Is "I Stand Amazed in the Presence" a hymn or a praise song?

Oh yeah, Esmerelda the Computer is back. The keyboard broke. Mr Kaceli said 97% chance that I won't be charged. We're waiting for the old keyboard to get to Toshiba. Toshiba!!! Sounds like a Japanese war-cry.

Hey! Wonders never cease as long as you never cease to wonder! I called people today on my phone!!!!! How amazing is that!!!!! I only cringed a few times and got flustered maybe 10 times but that's ok! Just kidding, I'm not THAT bad... I do cringe a lot when I'm on the phone and I do get really embarrassed. It's worse when someone's in the room and I make faces after everything I say because I get insecure and Jessi laughs at me.

Serina (suitemate) has to do this church study for her Nature and Purpose of the Local Church class and she has to visit these churches and define a healthy church. She went to this "church" called The Well and from the description, it's really... interesting... to say the least. They meet in a warehouse and they didn't have official preaching. It was like a huge congregational discussion on what they learned about the book of John. There was a band and they had some praise part... and it was the kind of atmosphere where you can get up and move around and there were couches in the back and stuff. SO I asked her if she wanted to come to Warminster tonight for a complete contrast. She has an Emmons chart to make so she's not coming but maybe another week.

I'm really rambling now. I didn't take a nap this afternoon (can you tell?) and I've been living on PB&J today. (Cafeteria hours on Sunday are a pain)

Random things I've found out about PBU after reading old stuff from PBU while working in Admissions:
* The BLC was just put up in 2002
* Ryrie was a president of PBU (no wonder they say "My hope is built on nothing less than Scofield's notes and Ryrie's text"!)
* Speaking in tongues is not permitted on campus.

Other random things I've learned over my PBU existence:
* Half the stuff that PBU is supposed to send out, they don't. And half the stuff I was supposed to receive, I didn't get. (E.g. "Congrats on passing the SAT!!!" card, birthday card, etc.)
* The school used to be a Catholic boys' school (or was it a monastery?). Hence the stained glass windows in Manor Hall.
* The section of the building that has all the schools of Ed, arts and sciences, etc. offices has showers in the girls' bathroom because it used to be a guys' dorm.
* I sleep in Langhorne and eat in Middletown.
* Langhorne was one of the stops for the Underground Railroad and it has one of the oldest Black communities in the nation. The "Show Way" blankets were draped over some of the porches of the stone houses to point the runaway slaves in the right direction.
* All roads lead to Street Rd... that or Hulmeville Ave. (I've gotten lost a lot but you'll eventually find Street Rd without trying too hard)
* Geese look realy funny when they stand on the iced over pond. I always imagine little thought bubbles above their heads that say "How come I can't float?!?"

MuKappa was so much fun. I have a paper to write, but here's a picture of us MK's. (People came and went all night so these were the survivors that stayed late) The first picture has 3 additional non-MK's that have connections and managed to get invited to the event. (Danae claimed her parents were Korean and she was adopted and now they're missionaries to Kansas.) The second picture are just the MK's in their true form.

This is Gertrude. There's also a snowball in the freezer. I named him Harold. Harry and Gerty are both safe and hopefully stay safe until May.

So it snowed and we went rolling down the snowy hill by Dr Babb's house at midnight. Twas much funness... and the next day it all melted.

We had a substitute teacher today... Oliff. He walked into class and everyone started grinning and you could hear a few people going "YESSS!!!!" Everyone who had had him before were excited... but some people were creeped out. He called on me and I freaked out because I kinda missed the question but thankfully he went off on another tangent after I tried to answer with what I hoped he was looking for. Haha! It was great... memories of Four Gospels class a year ago. Yeah he had some "interesting" ideas, but I liked his class and it was fun having him back again as a surprise.

It snowed!!!

And it's still snowing!!! It's so beautiful!!! But we're only supposed to get about an inch. It's coming down fast now. I got a little excited. So much for 10:30 bedtime.

Oh this Bible school...

You know you're in Bible school when...
* Upon entering the dorm you hear the book of Judges being played on an audio Bible program
* You are eating breakfast and you hear a heated discussion on Calvinism and Arminianism at the table next to you
* You get into a heated argument for a half hour when the majority of the students are against the professor
* You leave the argument and you run to another professor and ask him about what the first professor said
* The second professor tells you that the other professor was wrong and then tells you "Keep taking your stand for the truth!"

All of the above happened to me in the past 2 weeks, and the last four happened in the past 2 days. Ooooh this school.

See what happened was this:

For Pauline Epistles, we have study questions. One of the questions was in regards to 1 Cor. 15:1-4 and Psalm 16:10. The main point was that Jesus was buried and raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. Ok, so I was working on the study questions Monday afternoon. Monday night I was in OT Wisdom Books and Mr Hook started talking about the methods of interpreting the Psalms. He got to the Eschatological-Messianic Method which sees Christ in the Psalms. Mr Hook says that we can't say David was "prophesying" of Christ. He never meant Christ, however that's how it all unfolded in the end. He said the point of the Psalm is in the context and what was written about himself and what was happening then. He said a jump to Christ misses the whole point of the Psalm. So basically he said that although the NT writers cite the Psalms, we are not allowed to use the Psalms and put Christ in them. He said "Paul can do something we can't do." So basically the whole interpreting the OT in light of the NT? Yeah he doesn't go with that. That sent the whole class into a heated argument. One person brought up Psalm 110 and Mr Hook said that's the only Psalm he thinks refers directly to Christ. Then he told the class that he thinks that he might be proven wrong in Heaven, but for now, this is his view..... and in our study of Psalm 50, we're not allowed to use the Eschatological-Messianic method. SO today I asked Mr Allen what he thought and he totally contradicted Mr Hook and decided he's going to ask Mr Hook about it.

Anyway, time to run to Foundations of Special Ed! Later!!!
